About Me

Hello, My name is Corey Munroe. I am a bi-racial, heterosexual, social worker/clinician. I am originally from Worcester, Massachusetts. My journey as a social worker began over a decade ago when I began working for a private organization; the Jewish Healthcare Center. Here, I worked with individuals on Hospice, the short-term care unit following medical procedures, and Alzheimer's unit. I eventually began working for a program under the Department of Youth Services, called Grafton Girls Detention Center. Here I worked with girls ages 13-18 who were at risk of being committed due to charges obtained as youth. Prior to moving to California, I worked for the Department of Children and Family services in Massachusetts as an Ongoing Social Worker helping families navigation the child protection system.

In 2018 I moved to Sunnyvale, California and began working with a non-profit community agencies, First Place for Youth. I gained experience working with the TAY (Transitional Age Youth) population providing assistance as an education and employment specialist. In 2019-2020, I enrolled in the South Bay Regional Police Academy with the intention of making a career shift. This idea was derailed, despite graduating and completing the process, due to Covid. In 2021, I decided to go back to school and received my MSW at San Francisco State University. After graduation, 2023, I returned to Child Protection Services and began working as an Emergency Response Social Worker. At the end of 2024, I decided to make the transition to Santa Rosa, CA to begin working with Keystone Therapy as a clinician.

I grew up in an inner city with a diverse network of culture and individuals of different ethnicities and nationalities. As a bi-racial man, I have experience navigating the world as a majority and minority, which directly correlates to my personal identity growing up, learning about myself and others with contrasting parental cultures. As a minority in the social work realm (black male) I enjoy working with disenfranchised and underserved individuals as they embark on their journey through life.
